Sundays from 10:30AM - 1:30PM
MAY 17 - JUNE 7, 2026
with Francie Shepherd
$50 per person or $180 for all 4 weeks
This 3-hour class supports your painting journey with watercolors and is intended for those with some painting experience, regardless of the medium (note: if you're a brand new watercolor painter, join us on Monday afternoons at 1pm for a 2-hour class just for you). Having fun and gaining confidence with the magical qualities of watercolor is the focus. Learn how to leverage the unique characteristics of this transparent medium while you develop your own individual style, or expand it. We'll explore specific techniques like splatter, lifting, applying salt, masking fluid or film, glazing, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry and mingling. You'll learn about additional surfaces, like Yupo or Rice paper, watercolor paints and their properties, brush types and paper options to maximize your success. Your drawing skills get a workout too, but you'll also be introduced to various methods of transferring more complicated images onto paper. All students enjoy the benefits of a collaborative environment on the water and the opportunity to socialize with others who have like interests. Click for Supply List.

Swamp Beauty, by Francie Shepherd
About Francie: Francie has been "arting" for a long time in many different forms and flavors, and painting in watercolor since 2014. Her style tends to be representative, enjoying the challenge of translating complicated subjects into a soft reflection of the experience with a special fondness for portraits and figures in motion. As the owner of The Foggy Bee she's passionate about connecting people with creative expression to build (or rebuild) self-esteem, a sense of personal wellness and self-confidence. The thoughtful, beautiful space she created out of the wreckage of an unsatisfying previous life provides a special, soothing coastal energy that naturally supports creativity and connection. The stunning beauty of Maine's rugged coastline serves as the backdrop for a memorable experience.
