ART RESIDENCY RETREAT

One-week Art Residency Retreat Stays. October, 2024! $1350 per week. This can be a collaborative residency experience - up to 4 creatives may be present during any of the designated periods. Or it could just be you. I find that a certain type of "buzz" happens when creative spirits share space.  It creates its own energy.

Engage with your creative process. Light it on fire or release it slowly. Whether it's painting, drawing, photography, writing or some other method of making art, you'll find a special energy here that helps make it bee. The building offers sweeping views of the Narragaugus River as it meets the Narragaugus Bay. The entire back side of the building, including the studio, faces the water.  The light is amazing with long windows and skylights.  It's a magical place to create.

Explore 90 Acres of undeveloped land, consisting of wild blueberry barrens, granite ledges, a local 1800's cemetery and deep evergreen forest when you're not gawking at or photographing, drawing or painting that view! Enjoy seasonal flower and vegetable gardens and plein air painting on the deck, in the garden or on the ledge. End the day around the firepit to share stories, successes or frustrations. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are just over an hour's drive. Schoodic Peninsula (part of Acadia, located in Winter Harbor, Maine) is less than 20 minutes. Hundreds of hiking trails within a 15 minute drive. This is an artists dream!

Outings and excursions are available through local third-party adventure guides (at an extra cost). The Foggy Bee will assist with making arrangements directly with independent providers. Sept and October brings fall color, summer's harvest and plenty of wildlife activity.  Flavorful fall favorites include: scallops, mussels, lobster, crab, oysters, clams and haddock.  All are plentiful this time of year and, in fact, some actually peak in September through December.  Farmer's are busy harvesting veggies in September, so fresh food is plentiful. Maine enjoys another flush of activity in September and October, bringing fall festivals and harvest celebrations. It's a beautiful time of year to come visit, and much less crowded than high summer.

Baloo - the resident canine assistant
Baloo on the deck

Meet Baloo, a super friendly, slightly goofy 11-year old lab mix.  He is often found out on the deck, lounging in the garden or watching the birds from the front porch.  He may also be under your feet in the studio if you don't mind (if you do, no worries, he'll be with his owner in another location).  If you're allergic to dogs it might be something to consider. While he doesn't have to be underfoot (and won't be in your accommodation at all), he is often around the studio and is always on the property. He does sing and dance, so the entertainment value offsets the sloppy love. An added bonus. Woof.
